Aston Villa were held to a 2-2 draw with the Reds at Villa Park.

Paul McGrath has reacted on Twitter to Aston Villa’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.
The Villans were closing in on a second Championship win, courtesy of quick-fire goals in the final quarter from Ross McCormack and Rudy Gestede, after Apostolos Vellios’s 57th-minute opener at Villa Park.

But Henri Lansbury grabbed an 87th-minute equaliser to deny Aston Villa a win which would have seen them move two points adrift of the top six.
Roberto Di Matteo’s side lost 3-1 away to Bristol City last time out, and Villa legend Paul McGrath claims it was a much better showing from his old side.
One of Aston Villa’s stand-out performers was arguably Jordan Ayew, who set up both goals, and McGrath has claimed the 24-year-old was “brilliant” this afternoon.

It was an improved showing from Villa, but with just one win in six league games, there is plenty of improvement needed if they want to bounce straight back into the Premier League.
They welcome eighth-placed Brentford to Villa Park on Wednesday night.
