Paul McGrath has expressed his frustration on Twitter at Aston Villa not being awarded a penalty against Manchester City this afternoon.

The former Villa star believes that City defender John Stones handled the ball twice inside his own penalty area, and is disappointed that Dean Smith’s side were not awarded a spot kick.

Pep Guardiola’s side won the match 3-0, thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling, David Silva and Ilkay Gundogan in the second half.

Moving on

City have arguably the best squad in the Premier League, and losing at the Etihad Stadium is not exactly an embarrassing result.

True, Villa had some decisions go against them, but that is part and parcel of the game.

Manager Smith, the players and the fans will be disappointed with the final result, but they should not move on and focus on their next games.

Villa will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Villa Park in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.
