Aston Villa lost in the Championship this afternoon.

They were defeated by Bristol City at Ashton Gate, losing 3-1, despite going 1-0 up.

Villa scored through Jack Grealish early on but tailed off and the result means Roberto Di Matteo’s men are now 16th in the Championship table.

It was yet another away loss for Villa, who are now without a win on the road since the opening day of last season.

It was a result that did not go down well with several of the club’s former players on Twitter.

Paul McGrath and Ian Taylor were all tweeting their thoughts on the game, with Taylor at the game:

Villa need to become more consistent. The club have had some decent results and performances but are not doing enough to kill off games and teams.

The club are now looking increasingly unlike potential promotion candidates for the remainder of the campaign.

The result against Bristol City was a shocker from Villa.

Villa need to start capitalising on games if they are to finish in the promotion shake-up this season.
