The Wolverhampton Wanderers boss is still in confident mood, despite Saturday’s defeat.
Wolves boss Paul Lambert sat down for an exclusive interview with the Express & Star, insisting that he has implicit trust in his group of players, and explained how he is looking at the bigger picture as far as the evolution of his side is concerned.
The Black Country outfit have produced some magnificent results in recent weeks, with wins over Liverpool in the FA Cup and Aston Villa in the league, but were brought back down to earth after their 2-1 loss to Burton Albion on Saturday.
Stearman’s message to Wolves teammates
They now sit in 18th position in the Championship table, and a full 14 points adrift of sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday.
But Lambert was adamant that he has full belief in his players, when speaking to the Express & Star, and chose to focus on the many positive moments his side have experienced over the past month or so:
Wolves manager Paul Lambert
“I’m not going to let one defeat change the way I think of the lads or anything. I’ve got a group that I know I can trust, which is important. And the effort is always there. The work ethic for the game is great. The bigger picture is that we’ve made inroads on and off the pitch and we’ve had an incredible time in the cup.”

Wolves’ season so far has been marred by inconsistency, but there is no doubt that they have improved as a team since Lambert’s appointment as manager in November.

Although a place inside the top six is probably outside the realms of reality this season, if Lambert’s men can continue to improve, their season is far from over, especially with a fifth round FA Cup tie with Chelsea to look forward to.
