Wolverhampton Wanderers are currently in the midst of a fine run of form.
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul Lambert
Wolves boss Paul Lambert spoke to reporters after last night’s 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest, and raved about his side’s recent winning run, whilst admitting that their home record over the past year has simply not been good enough for a club of its’ size, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The Black Country outfit have reeled off five consecutive Championship victories, and now sit in 15th position in the table, with the threat of relegation all but a distant memory.
And if it wasn’t for their poor home form this season, they might very well be fighting for a play-off spot right now.
Incredibly, their win over Cardiff City on Saturday was the first time they had won back-to-back home games in 13 months.
And Lambert told the media how impressed he has been with his side’s recent run of form, although he did stress the need for results at Molineux to improve as a whole, as quoted by Wolves.co.uk:
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul Lambert celebrates with Helder Costa
“Big complements to the team, they deserve a lot of credit. One thing I know is that we’re playing really well, we’re winning games. I don’t know the last time that this club won five on the spin at this level. 2008? That’s a hell of a long time. I’ve just been told that the Cardiff game was the first time that we’ve won back to back home games in 13 months – which is shocking for a club this size.”
Next up on the agenda for Lambert’s men is a trip to Bristol City on Saturday, before they host league leaders Brighton and Hove Albion on Easter Friday.
