Wolverhampton Wanderers currently sit just two points outside of the relegation zone.
Wolves manager Paul Lambert
Speaking to reporters, new Wolves boss Paul Lambert insisted that he wants his team to start taking more risks in a bid to help them embark on a wining run, as quoted by the Express & Star.
The Molineux outfit currently sit in 19th position in the Championship table, and are in the midst of an awful run, having not won a game since September 24th.
Lambert’s appointment was made in the hope that he would inject a much needed fighting spirit into the Wolves side.
And whilst there was clearly an increased work-rate on display from the Wolves players during their 0-0 draw at Preston North-End on Saturday, it was evident that there was a fear of losing, and a clear lack of ambition, with Lambert’s men registering just one shot on target during the 90 minutes.
The former Villa boss spoke to the media ahead of his side’s game against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, and highlighted the need for his players to take more risks, as quoted by the Express & Star:
Paul Lambert
“I think we’ve got to be more creative when we go forward and be more of a risk-taking team. I think we’ve got a decent enough base but in the last third of the pitch I think you’ve got to take the risk.”
Wolves’ visitors at the weekend aren’t exactly on the best run of form themselves, having won just once in their last five games.
Lambert will be desperate to kickstart his tenure at the Molineux with a win, and bring some cheer back to the club’s loyal fanbase.
