Wolverhampton Wanderers are deeply embroiled in a relegation scrap.
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul Lambert
Wolves boss Paul Lambert spoke to the Express & Star, and highlighted the need for his players to improve their mentality, and turn up to every game with the level of intensity that they showed during their FA Cup games against Liverpool and Chelsea.
The Black Country outfit are currently sitting precariously in 19th position in the Championship table, just five points clear of 22nd placed Wigan Athletic, after losing three consecutive league games.
They have shown what they are capable of, however, with exceptional displays against Liverpool and Chelsea respectively in the FA Cup.
And Lambert explained how they must bring those kind of performance levels to every single game that they play, when speaking to the Express & Star, regardless of the opposition:
“We have to change the mentality. You just don’t play when the big games come up, you have that level of intensity when you play everybody, not just the hyped-up games. We need to play like that every game. I don’t think it’s complacency. But if a team sit in against us, how do we break them down? Because I’ve not had the pre-season with them, we have to find solutions.”

Wolves welcome Gianfranco Zola’s Birmingham City to the Molineux on Friday night, and nothing less than a win will do, as the players look to bring the feel-good factor back to the club.
Lambert has arguably taken the club forward during his three-and-a-half months in charge, but their improved style of play has to start translating into points on the board, before the Wolves fans begin to grow frustrated with their side.
