Wolverhampton Wanderers fans will be hoping that their club can climb the table during the second half of the season.

During an interview with the Express & Star, Wolves boss Paul Lambert shared a potential boost for his side ahead of their clash with Aston Villa on Saturday, with the news that he expects Ivan Cavaleiro to bit fit for the game.

The Portuguese winger was Wolves’ most expensive ever signing in the summer, when he moved to Molineux for a fee believed to be in the region of £7 million.

He has gone on to make 20 Championship appearances for the Black Country outfit, scoring four goals and chipping in with four assists.

The 23-year-old has been in particularly impressive form of late, scoring three times during Wolves’ last six outings, so his potential return to the line-up could be integral to his side’s hopes of victory on Saturday.

And Lambert spoke to the Express & Star, providing an update on Cavaleiro’s expected return form injury, after he missed their 2-0 FA Cup victory over Stoke City at the weekend:

“Cavaleiro had a little problem with his knee but he’s trained now so hopefully he’ll be okay and available for this weekend.”

Lambert’s men currently sit in 16th position in the Championship table, 13 points adrift of the play-off spots, but a win against Villa could be just the tonic they need, as they look to close the gap on those inside the top six during the second half of the season.
