Price stood out once again as Wolves grabbed a vital win away at Nottingham Forest.
Wolves boss Paul Lambert has told the Express and Star that Jack Price is exactly the sort of player he wants in his team.
The midfielder, who turned 24 earlier in the week, is a firm fans favourite at Molineux with the apparent reluctance of previous manager Walter Zenga to give him game time remained a constant bone of contention.
However, one of Lambert’s first acts in charge of the struggling Midlanders was to bring Price in from the cold and he has been rewarded with a series of assured displays.
Due to concerns over his fitness, Price was rested for three matches after the 2-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday before returning to play a vital role in a crucial win away at Nottingham Forest last week, and the former Blackburn boss could hardly hide his admiration for the young midfielder.
“I thought he was fantastic on Saturday. He’s a terrific lad and great to have about the place, even when he wasn’t playing,” Lambert told the Express and Star.
“Being an ex-midfielder myself…you want him to be the engine and the heartbeat of it. He takes the ball on and I thought he did great at that on Saturday, always wanting the ball. That’s the type of lad you want to have, and he’s only young.
“It takes big players to always want the ball. Even if they’re having a bad game I don’t want them to shy away from it.”
Price’s performance certainly caught the eye of Wolves supporters at the City Ground with his combative approach and confidence in possession standing out ever since he broke into the senior side.
And the fans will be hoping his return to the starting XI is a sign of things to come as Lambert aims to salvage Wolves’ season and push towards the higher echelons of the Championship table.
