Andy Lonergan could be due to start in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ next match against Preston North End.
New Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Paul Lambert has admitted to the Express and Star that he cannot believe how good Andy Lonergan has been in training.
Lambert looks to have a selection dilemma in goal, ahead of his first game in charge of Wolves at the weekend.
Wolves number one Carl Ikeme is a doubt with injury, meaning that Lonergan could have to be called upon.
And Lambert insists that he he has full faith in Lonergan, after watching his displays in Wolves training this week.
“We’ll see how he [Ikeme] is,” Lambert said. “Mind you, Andy Lonergan is making saves in training that you think aren’t possible!
“We’ve got two really good goalkeepers here. Carl’s been excellent in his time here but he’s carrying a knock at the minute.”
Lambert’s first match in charge of Wolves comes against Preston North End at Deepdale on Saturday.
Wolves go into the fixture on a poor run of form, after failing to win any of their last seven matches.
Preston, meanwhile, have been strong in recent weeks and have moved up towards the play off places.
If Wolves can beat pick up a victory against Preston, they could climb up to 16th place in the Championship table.
