Stearman was one of six Wolverhampton Wanderers players linked with leaving Molineux in the near future.
Paul Lambert has explained that he told Richard Stearman that he has no idea where reports linking the defender with an imminent exit from Molineux had come from, the Express and Star reports.
The Express and Star has suggested that Stearman – who is currently on loan from Championship rivals Fulham – was one of six who had reportedly been earmarked as players that Lambert wants to get off the club’s books following his relatively recent appointment.

However, the Wolves boss has seemingly rubbished such a suggestion by insisting that he has not decided himself which players will be allowed to move on, and dropped a hint as to why the 29-year-old may not be one of the players who could go.
“I just find that bizarre,” he said, as reported by the Express and Star. “With Stearman, for instance, I spoke with him this morning and said I don’t know if you’ve read that and I don’t know where it’s come from because 1) you’re playing for me and 2) you’re playing well.

“He said he was a bit confused! I can’t release people if I don’t even know that myself.”
While Stearman’s form has been mixed since his return to Wolves, his most recent performances have offered slightly more to be positive about.
He helped the side keep a clean sheet in the win over Nottingham Forest last weekend, so it would not be a surprise at all if Lambert intended to keep the centre-back for the duration of his loan.
