Glasgow Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has endured a mixed time since arriving at Ibrox.

Former Celtic midfielder Paul Lambert has suggested that he would like to see Pedro Caixinha given one full season to start turning things around at Rangers, and suggested that the work that Brendan Rodgers has done with the Hoops should inspire the Gers to give him that chance, The Sunday Post reports.
Caixinha has endured a mixed time since arriving at Ibrox, winning three and drawing two of his first five games in charge, but then watching his side fail miserably in both of the Old Firm games.
But while some Light Blues supporters may be doubting whether the Portuguese is the right man to close the gap to Rodgers’ dominant Hoops, Lambert has insisted that he deserves the chance to get his own players in and subsequently have time to watch them settle in before he is actually judged.
“I hope Caixinha is given at least two transfer windows and one full season to improve things and get closer to Celtic,” he said, as reported by The Sunday Post.

“I will make a comparison here and say to everyone to look at the difference in the Celtic team and certain individuals from now to 10 months ago when Brendan Rodgers first started working with them.
“It’s night and day. Everyone at Rangers will hope for a similar impact and level of improvement from Pedro.
“But it is not going to be easy, that’s for sure. However, you must never give up hope.”

If Caixinha is able to enjoy an excellent summer window, then perhaps the two Old Firm defeats may have actually had a somewhat positive impact.
The Rangers boss grabbed the headlines when he first arrived by claiming that he had the best squad in Scotland available to him (via Daily Record), and while he may have meant that as a way of motivating his side, he can now have absolutely no doubt as to how much work is actually required.
And if he can oversee a major overhaul this summer, then perhaps he can oversee something close to the kind of transformation that Rodgers has managed with their bitter rivals, as Lambert suggests.
