Ipswich Town’s Tom Adeyemi is out of contract this summer.
Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert says he is unsure midfielder Tom Adeyemi will remain at the club beyond the summer with the player’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, East Anglian Daily Times report.
“If you don’t play games it’s difficult. You need game time to show what you can do and unfortunately Tom has not had that. It’s difficult to say in this moment if he is going to be here or if he’s not going to be here,” Lambert said.
“Tom Adeyemi came through the U23s OK. There’s no rush for me, his health is the most important thing. I don’t know what’s happening with him in the summer.”
Tom Adeyemi signed for Ipswich Town from Cardiff City during the 2017-18 campaign.
The 27-year-old was deemed a real coup at the time following a previous impressive spell on loan at fellow Championship club Rotherham United.
Unfortunately for Ipswich, the midfielder soon struggled with injuries and he has managed just five league appearances in his two years at the club.
The Tractor Boys’ relegation to League One means current boss Paul Lambert will be planning ahead to next season while financial cuts may have to be made.
Adeyemi joined having had decent spells at Birmingham City and Leeds United. It’s likely he is on a high wage in the squad, and without playing a game under Lambert it’s difficult to see the club wanting to keep him on board.
After a long layoff with injury, Adeyemi finally made a comeback for the U23 side this past week and it will be interesting to see if he is given a first-team run out before the end of the campaign.
