The Hammers are in the bottom three after conceding 13 goals in five games.
Paul Ince has told BT Sport that West Ham United’s problems could be down to them focusing too much on attacking and not defending.
The Hammers are currently sitting in the bottom three after five games of the season with just a point to their name.
Their poor form continued on Saturday afternoon as they were beaten 4-2 by West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.
That result was their second successive defeat by that scoreline after losing to Watford by the same score last week.
So far they have conceded 13 goals in just five games and Ince believes that they may be focusing too hard on their attacking play.
“Maybe West Ham are thinking too much about attacking, you’ve got to be careful about how you go about it,” he told BT Sport.
“It’s not all about attacking and making people happy it’s about getting points on the board.”
A look at the stats shows that West Ham could certainly do with focusing on improving their defensive work this season.
Aside from the 13 goals conceded, they have given away 9.2 chances in the box per game to their opponents so far, the sixth worst record in the division.
Goalkeeper Adrian has also had to make an average of 3.6 saves per game, the fifth highest amount in the division.
Both of those prove there is currently a major flaw in West Ham’s defensive structure and that is where manager Slaven Bilic should be focusing his efforts to turn things around sooner rather than later.
