It’s not looking good for Leeds United left-back Laurens de Bock.

Laurens De Bock of Leeds United runs with the ball during the Sky Bet Championship match between Derby County and Leeds United at iPro Stadium on February 21, 2018 in Derby, England.

Speaking to a press conference and quoted by Leeds Live, Leeds United boss Paul Heckingbottom has suggested that Laurens de Bock will be a long-term absentee after a “pretty damaging” hamstring tear.

The 25-year-old, a £1.5 million January signing, hasn’t played for the Whites since the 2-2 draw at Reading on March 10.

The Belgian left-back, signed from Club Brugge, had endured a tough opening month or so as a Leeds player but had shown promising signs of life in the draw at Reading, only for injury to scupper his resurgence.

And Heckingbottom has now told a press conference via Leeds Live that De Bock isn’t going to return any time soon.

He said: “Pretty damaging hamstring tear, so he’s still feeling all the little bits of discomfort and pain, so it’s difficult to put a time frame on it, but he’s not going to be short-term.”

Heckingbottom’s side host Bolton Wanderers at Elland Road tomorrow and it would appear as if United don’t have as much to play for as the Trotters.

Leeds are 12 points adrift of the playoffs and 17 clear of the relegation zone, meaning that a season that once promised so much is effectively already over, and has been for quite a few weeks.

Wanderers, on the other hand, are only six points clear of the bottom three and beating the Whites tomorrow would go a long way toward seeing them preserve their Championship status.
