Leeds United midfielder Luke Murphy has been sent out on loan to Burton Albion this season.

Leeds United should not consider bringing Luke Murphy back, despite Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough’s praise of the midfielder.
Murphy has been on loan at Burton this season, and he has impressed for the Brewers.
Clough suggested that he would tell Paul Heckingbottom to give the 28-year-old a chance back at Elland Road.
The Burton boss said to the Burton Mail: “I’m going to put a call in to Paul Heckingbottom in the next couple of days just to make sure he’s aware of he well he’s done for us.

“He got frozen out at Leeds two years ago, he joined us in the January and then he came back.”
“But I think Paul will look at the situation differently. I think he phoned him as soon as he got the job as well, which helped. And I think Luke will get a chance at Leeds next season to prove himself in the Championship, I hope he does, because he’s good enough.”
However, Murphy should not be considered as an option for Leeds next season, as they need better.
The former Crewe man may be a capable player in the Championship, but if Leeds truly have their eyes on a promotion spot, then Murphy isn’t quite of the standard required.

The Whites already have Adam Forshaw, Ronaldo Vieira and even Kalvin Phillips, who are arguably superior players to Murphy.
And with Heckingbottom seemingly ready to bring in a new central midfielder this summer, it is hard to see where Murphy fits in.
Leeds should now avoid the temptation of giving Murphy another chance, as a move away from Elland Road looks like the best option for all parties involved.
