Hibernian manager Paul Heckingbottom has told The Scottish Sun that he wants to sign Glenn Middleton from Rangers in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported by The Scottish Sun that Rangers winger Middleton was at Easter Road yesterday to watch Hibernian in action against St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.

Hibs boss Heckingbottom has stated that he wants to secure the services of the 19-year-old winger on a loan deal.

The former Leeds United head coach has also revealed that he has held talks with Rangers over the transfer of the Scotland Under-21 international winger.

Heckingbottom told The Scottish Sun about Middleton: “He’s someone we have spoken to Rangers about. We’d be keen to do something, Rangers would and so would Glenn so hopefully we can get something done there.

“It would be a loan. Glenn is someone Rangers value highly. So if we can get him we’ll do our bit in terms of pushing him and trying to help develop him and do our bit for him – and he’ll do his bit for us with his application and the qualities he can bring. We’re hoping it can be done.”

Good move for Glenn Middleton?

Hibernian are a big and ambitious club, and Middleton would be a good signing for the Scottish Premiership outfit in the summer transfer window.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will be able to follow the 19-year-old’s progress on a regular basis if he stays in the Scottish Premiership, and the former Norwich City winger himself will be determined to play at his best week in and week out knowing that he will be closely monitored by the Gers.
