Leeds United fans weren’t rewarded for their effort on Friday as Paul Heckingbottom’s side lost 3-0 at Middlesbrough.

Paul Heckingbottom has told LUTV that the Leeds United fans were “first class” on Friday.
Thousands of Leeds fans braved the harsh conditions and made the 66-mile journey to Middlesbrough as their side went down 3-0 at The Riverside Stadium.
First-half goals from Patrick Bamford gave the Whites a mountain to climb, before the former Chelsea striker completed his hat-trick in the second period.

Failing to beat Tony Pulis’s side meant that United missed the chance to move within three points of the playoff places in the Championship.
And although it was a very disappointing night for Heckingbottom on the whole, the 40-year-old believes that the unrelenting support from the travelling fans was a big plus nonetheless.

He told LUTV: “Yeah, fantastic again. You can hear them. I was up the other side of the pitch today and you can hear them. They’re first class, desperate to get behind the boys and get us back in the game.”
Fans of the Elland Road club have been getting a lot of credit this season, and rightly so, but it looks like they’ll have to wait at least another year before getting back into the Premier League.
Heckingbottom’s side are 12th in the Championship, six points adrift of the top six, and it’s growing increasingly difficult seeing them nab a playoff spot.
