The Belgian was poor against Derby County in midweek.
Laurens De Bock of Leeds United
Leeds United gave away two silly goals as they drew 2-2 with Derby County in the week. Paul Heckingbottom’s side conceded in first-half and second-half stoppage time as Derby claimed a draw at the iPro Stadium.
The result was a bitter blow for Leeds who will feel they did enough to earn a hard-fought win at Derby, but fans at Leeds were clear on one of the culprits for the loss.
Jed Wallace of Millwall and Laurens De Bock of Leeds United
Laurens De Bock had an absolute shocker in the game. He was at fault for the first goal and was continuously caught out of position or giving away possession in a game which did not enhance his so far balanced reputation among the Leeds fans.
Once again, Gaetano Berardi did not look great at right-back and the theory he is a better right-footed left-back then a natural right-back must be explored.
For the game with Brentford this weekend, Paul Heckingbottom must make a bold decision, and drop De Bock to the bench.
So far the Belgian has simply not looked up to the challenge and his performance against Derby this week was simply atrocious.
Pablo Hernandez of Leeds United celebrates with Vurnon Anita of Leeds United
Vurnon Anita or Stuart Dallas could easily slot in at right-back, with Berardi swapping sides and it would at least take De Bock, one of the final signings made under Thomas Christiansen’s management, out of the firing line.
He made that call with Eunan O’Kane after his troubles, he has to do it again with the Belgian defender.
