Leeds United managed to pick up a 2-2 draw with Derby County last night.

Paul Heckingbottom has told BBC Radio Leeds that he felt Ezgjan Alioski was ‘first-class’ after being brought on for Leeds United against Derby County.

Alioski scored Leeds’ second goal in the contest against Derby, as the Whites claimed a 2-2 draw.

But it was the wide-man’s defensive ability which really caught his manager’s eye.

Alioski made two key interceptions to break up Derby attacks, and Heckingbottom feels that Alioski is really starting to adapt to his style of play now.

“I picked Gjanni out when he came on,” Heckingbottom said. “A couple of his defensive positions were superb today. First-class, that’s a wide player. They’re the things we want to see over and over again.”

When Alioski scored his goal it appeared that he had put Leeds on their way to an important three points.

However, a heartbreaking late equaliser from Kasey Palmer ensured that Derby took a point from the contest.

Leeds’ play off hopes now look to be over for the season, unless they can put together a wonderful run of form between now and the end of the campaign.

Leeds are currently in 11th place in the Championship table, eight points behind the top six.
