Leeds United defender Vurnon Anita was dropped from Paul Heckingbottom’s match-day squad against Derby County.

Paul Heckingbottom has shown his ruthless steak at Leeds United, by dropping Vurnon Anita entirely from Leeds’ line-up against Derby County.
Anita was spotted before kick off at Pride Park, which suggests he wasn’t injured for the fixture, yet he did not feature in Leeds’ match day squad.
Anita had been one of Leeds better performers over recent weeks, after being brought in to cover for the suspended Gaetano Berardi.

However, with Berardi back from suspension, Anita was taken totally out of Leeds’ squad.
That can only be a bad omen for Anita, who has not had the impact at Elland Road many were expecting.
Heckingbottom’s predecessor, Thomas Christiansen, brought in Anita on a free transfer from Newcastle United and there was great excitement about the Dutchman’s arrival.

However, Anita has not managed to hold down a place in Leeds’ first-team at any stage this term.
And if Heckingbottom is already leaving him out of match-day squads, despite a solid run of form recently, then the signs are hardly promising for Anita’s future at Elland Road under Leeds’ new manager.
