Paul Heckingbottom has suggested to Deadline News that Liverpool could potentially keep Rangers loanee Ryan Kent at Anfield next season.

The 22-year-old has proven a revelation under Steven Gerrard since joining Rangers on a season-long loan last summer.

Naturally, fans of the Ibrox side are desperate to keep him beyond the end of this season.

But Hibernian boss Heckingbottom, whose side face Rangers on Friday, says it isn’t unthinkable that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could retain his services next term.

He told Deadline News: “I’m sure there will be a plan for Ryan and he will be involved in that with his representatives and Liverpool.

“That could be another loan or a permanent move or it could be as part of the Liverpool squad because I think they will definitely have another look at him when he does back in pre-season.”

Heckingbottom knows a thing or two about Kent’s talent, having once brought him to Barnsley on loan.

As difficult as it is to see the Rangers man dazzling in Klopp’s senior squad next season, it can’t be dismissed.

The truth is that he is a major talent, but whether he’s capable of rivalling Sadio Mane next season is another thing entirely, but time will tell.
