Conor Hazard has joined Falkirk on loan from Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic in the January transfer window.
Scottish Championship club Falkirk have signed Hazard on loan from Scottish Premiership side Celtic in the January transfer window.
The 19-year-old goalkeeper will be part of the Bairns’ team until the end of the season.
Hartley has revealed his discussion with Celtic boss Rodgers about the Northern Ireland Under-21 international goalkeeper.
“We felt we needed to get another one in and he was highly recommended by Brendan and Celtic,” Hartley told Capital City Press about Hazard. “He’s got a bright future ahead of him and we’re delighted to bring Conor in.
“I have spoken with Brendan Rodgers at length over Conor and I know just how highly thought of he is at Celtic Park.
“This is a move that will hopefully benefit all parties as I know that both Conor and Celtic were keen that he went out on loan to gain some valuable first-team experience.”
Hazard is a very talented and promising young goalkeeper who signed a new four-year contract with Celtic only in September 2017.
From Hartley’s comments, it seems that Rodgers rates the youngster highly, and one suspects that in the coming years the teenager will establish himself as a regular in the Celtic first team.
For now, it made sense for Hazard to join Falkirk in the Scottish Premiership on loan and get valuable playing time in a very competitive league.
Falkirk are eighth in the Scottish Championship table at the moment with 23 points from 22 matches.
