The Celtic captain has been in fine form at the beginning of this season.
Former Celtic midfielder Paul Hartley has praised Brendan Rodgers for breathing new life into Scott Brown this season, during an interview with the Daily Mail.
Rodgers took over at Celtic Park this summer after Ronny Deila decided to depart the club at the end of last season.
He has enjoyed a superb start to life with the Scottish champions, with them unbeaten in the league and third in their Champions League group after a 3-3 draw with Manchester City last time out.
Several stars have shown improved performance levels under his leadership but none more so than captain Brown, who has shone so far.
He was the key man over the weekend as he bagged his first goal of the season to help his side secure a 1-0 win over Dundee.
Hartley has certainly been impressed by what he has seen, telling the Daily Mail: “The new manager coming in certainly appears to have given him a new lease of life”
“I think you need a manager who not only believes in you, but can see something a bit different in you. Brendan has obviously done that with Scott. You can see his drive and determination.”
The former midfielder also believes that Brown’s decision to retire from international football is providing dividends, saying the midfielder now looks like his old self.
The Celtic midfielder elected to retire from the Scotland setup earlier this year, bringing an end to an 11-year international career that saw him make 50 appearances.
At the time he admitted to BBC Sport that he “simply felt that I could not keep up both commitments without either my performances or recovery time suffering.”
“Possibly retiring from the international scene has helped, with the schedule being a bit easier for him. He will probably feel better,” added Hartley.
“You want to keep playing at the top level and play as many as you can. But Scott has had a few injuries over recent years. It has probably prolonged his career a bit – and he looks like the Scott Brown of old.”
