Newcastle United recorded a stunning win at Fulham on the last day of the Premier League season.

Paul Gascoigne has brilliantly urged Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley to give him ‘half’ of his money and he will show him ‘how to spend it’ on the club as he compared the Toon Army fans to those of Glasgow giants Rangers.

The North East legend lauded the ‘unbelievable’ job manager Rafa Benitez has done at St James’ Park after they ended the season on Sunday with a 4-0 win at already-relegated Fulham.

Since Benitez has been at the club, he has guided them back to the Premier League and then with it maintained their status in England’s top-flight.

Speaking to The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show on TalkSport (13/05/2019 at 6:40 am). Gazza shared his thoughts on Newcastle, Benitez, the fans and Ashley.

On the job Benitez has done: “Unbelievable,” Gazza told TalkSport. “The good thing about the Newcastle manager they have faithful fans, they’ll always turn up when they get beat. Look at Rangers when they got demoted to the third division the fans were still there. Incredible.

On the up and coming big meeting with Ashley and Rafa: “Mike Ashley, he can sort out a few bob. They have got to start to give Rafa money. But they’ve never seen it for years, have they?!

“A club like that, which is massive, there’s an unbelievable manager with what he Rafa has achieved. As a manager, you have got to give the guy money. Obviously, he is going to spend it wisely and buy top class players. The money Mike Ashley has got well give me half and I’ll show them how to spend it.”

A big summer awaits Newcastle and a lot of it may depend on whether Benitez is in the St James’ Park dugout next season.

As reported by Sky Sports, the former Champions League winning manager will meet Ashley this week to discuss his future with his current contract running out in the summer.

If Benitez does extend his current deal then it will increase Newcastle’s chances of producing a positive season next term, but if he leaves then Ashley will feel the wrath of the club supporters even further.
