Celtic forward Moussa Dembele was linked with a move to Chelsea in the January transfer window.
Paul Elliott has suggested to The Scottish Sun that Celtic forward Moussa Dembele would be a good signing for Chelsea.
The Guardian reported in the January transfer window that Chelsea were weighing up a £30 million deadline-day move for Dembele.
The Sun has reported that the Blues will watch the French forward in action for Celtic against Old Firm rivals Rangers at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon.
Former Celtic and Chelsea defender Elliott, who is 52 years of age, believes that Dembele would be a good signing for the Stamford Bridge outfit.
“Chelsea can essentially go out and get any striker in the world and when I first heard that they were interested in Dembele, I wasn’t surprised,” Elliott told The Scottish Sun.
“He fits into Chelsea’s purchasing structure. For Chelsea, it’s okay spending £20million or £60m on a player, but they have to think about resale value.
“So signing Dembele, at just 20 years of age, would be a shrewd investment for the club and a tremendous asset. There is no doubt Dembele will go to a top club.”
Dembele has been one of the best players for Celtic so far this season and is playing brilliantly at the moment.
According to Celtic’s official website, the 20-year-old has scored 32 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.
The youngster has a lot of potential, and he would be a great signing for any club in Europe.
While it would be tough for Celtic to keep hold of the France Under-21 international for the 2017-18 campaign, perhaps Dembele should remain at Celtic Park for one more season at least.
