Paul Dummett has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Rob Elliot leaving Newcastle United.

As announced on Newcastle’s official website this week, Elliot will leave the Magpies at the end of the month when his current contract runs out.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper had been on the books of the Premier League club since 2011.

Dummett has been on the books of the Magpies his entire professional club football career, and the Welshman has sent an emotional message to the Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper on Twitter.

Good squad player

Elliot made 68 appearances in all competitions for Newcastle, but he has not played for the Magpies since December 2017.

The Republic of Ireland international had been a good squad player who did well whenever he was called into action.

Stats

Meanwhile, Dummett has made 14 starts and provided two assists in the Premier League for Newcastle so far this season, according to WhoScored.

The 28-year-old, who can operate as a left-back or as a centre-back, made 21 starts and five substitute appearances in the league for the Magpies during the 2018-19 campaign, according to WhoScored.
