Dummett has struggled at Newcastle with a hamstring injury.
Paul Dummett has somewhat surprisingly returned to Newcastle United training after confirming as much on his Instagram story following a hamstring injury – and that is sure to infuriate Wales boss Ryan Giggs.
Dummett, 27, has been missing from Newcastle’s last two Premier League outings as he continues in his fight to overcome a hamstring injury. He has since been replaced by Kenedy against Leicester and Javi Manquillo at Man United.
The three-time Wales international had been called up to his national team for the international break as Wales go up against Spain in a friendly on Thursday night, and then Ireland on Tuesday in the UEFA Nations League.
But the Chronicle reported he had pulled out of the squad to work on his fitness. So his Instagram story on Thursday, which states that he has returned to training, is sure to frustrate Wales boss Giggs.
Dummett remains Rafa Benitez’s first choice left-back at St. James’ Park despite the Spanish manager’s desire to bring a left-back to the club in the summer, in which saw The Toon almost sign Stanley N’Soki from Paris Saint-Germain.
Making his debut quite late at 21 years of age in the FA Cup under Alan Pardew back in January 2013, Dummett has gone on to make 148 league and cup appearances for the Toon – and even captained the side against Chelsea in August.
