Paul Dickov has said on Stadium Astro that he would have loved Manchester City to sign Thiago before he went to Liverpool.
Thiago joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2020 for an initial transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £20 million.
The 29-year-old central midfielder worked with City manager Pep Guardiola at Barcelona and at Bayern.
Former City striker Dickov has said that he was disappointed that the Citizens did not sign the Spain international in the summer of 2020 before he moved to Liverpool.
Dickov said on Stadium Astro: “Thiago is just a wonderful footballer. I was actually quite disappointed Liverpool signed him in the summer because I would have loved to see him at Manchester City with Pep Guardiola.”

Would Thiago have been better suited to Manchester City?
Thiago is a cultured ball-playing midfielder who pulls the strings from midfield and dominates possession in the middle of the park.
Having worked with Guardiola at Barcelona and Bayern, the 29-year-old would have fitted in nicely at City.
Some pundits, including former Liverpool striker Michael Owen, have raised doubts on whether Thiago suits the way the Reds play under Jurgen Klopp.
There have been suggestions from some pundits that Thiago is slowing the game down for Liverpool.
The problems with Thiago at Liverpool have been the long-term injury he suffered against Everton and not playing alongside Fabinho, Jordan Henderson or Georginio Wijnaldum enough to form a strong understanding on the pitch.
