Paul Dickov has criticised Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale on Stadium Astro.

The former Arsenal and Manchester City striker believes that suggestions that Bale is still trying to find full match fitness are wrong.

Dickov said about Bale on Stadium Astro: “When he does get into the team, there’s a lack of hunger, it’s not quite there that he once had, his body language isn’t great.

“I don’t buy into this thing that he has not been fully fit because he has been at the club for a long time now, he is training every day. He should be chomping at the bit.”

Does Paul Dickov have a point?

Bale did carry an injury when he returned to Tottenham on loan from Real Madrid in the summer of 2020.

The winger is now fit and available, but the Wales international is still not getting into the team.

According to WhoScored, the 31-year-old has made two starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League and has played six times in the Europa League for Spurs so far this season.

Of course, no one knows how well Bale is doing in training on a daily basis, but one suspects that if he was stunning in the sessions, then Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho would play him.

Bale is a very good winger who can still play an important role for Spurs in the coming weeks and months.

However, it does look very unlikely that the Welshman will be able to play week in and week out, and he will probably have to make an impact off the substitutes’ bench.
