Wigan Athletic have been linked with Everton’s Antonee Robinson.

Wigan Athletic manager Paul Cook says his side are working very hard to bring in good players but refused to confirm whether the club have made a bid to sign Everton’s Antonee Robinson, Wigan Today report.
“I appreciate the media has a job to do, and I understand the speculation. But it’s grossly unfair on lads to be talking in public about their futures,” Cook explained when asked if Antonee Robinson would return.
“There’s talk of us signing Jedi (Robinson), but then we don’t get him, we get another left-back. What I can say is we are working very hard behind the scenes to bring in good players.”
“Players who have been here already, obviously we will know more about them than players who haven’t, and would give them a head start. But does that mean we will be bringing in lads like that? Not necessarily.”
Wigan signed Robinson on loan from Everton last season. The left-back was a big hit at the DW Stadium, making 26 league appearances and helping the Latics preserve their Championship status.
Robinson’s path to first-team football at Everton is blocked. Lucas Digne was an impressive figure at Goodison Park following his move from Barcelona last summer, and Leighton Baines is also an option.
The Sun on Sunday (23/6; page 60) reported last weekend how Wigan had tabled a bid for Robinson as they look to bring him back to the DW Stadium, but they face competition from Bristol City and Brentford.

It is suggested in The Sun’s report that the USA international could leave the Toffees on a permanent basis for around £2.5 million – a potential bargain as the 21-year-old has his whole career in-front of him.
Quality left-backs are in quite short supply and you only have to look at Bournemouth spending a reported £13 million to sign Lloyd Kelly from Bristol City to show Wigan could grab a real coup here.
