The Premier League side have turned around their season since Clement stepped in.

Swansea City boss Paul Clement has heaped praise on the club’s fans following their turnaround in fortunes since the 44-year-old took charge, as reported by the South Wales Evening Post.

Having won just three times all season prior to Clement’s arrival, Swansea looked like they’d be returning to the Championship for the first time since 2011.

However, the Swans have won four out of the seven Premier League matches Clement has been in charge of, and the three they didn’t win were defeats to the league’s elite in Manchester City, Arsenal and most recently, Chelsea.

The Welsh side now find themselves in 16th, two points clear of the drop, and while there is still work to be done to avoid relegation, Clement is incredibly grateful for the support given to his side by the fans.

“First of all, the players need credit for the effort they have put in to get the results, but right behind them have been the supporters and that has been a big lift for everyone,” Clement said, as reported by the South Wales Evening Post.

“I can sense the change in mood, the positivity around the club and the city. I feel that responsibility, I came here wanting the challenge but it is a lot easier when everyone is on board with what you are trying to do.

“That goes from the players and, even more importantly, the supporters. Having 20,000 people right behind you makes a big difference to how we perform.”

Swansea’s next league fixture is a huge one, as they host a Burnley side with the worst away record in the Premier League, as the Swans seek to move further away from the drop zone.

Clement’s side will then face three relegation candidates in a row, as they go away to both Hull City and Bournemouth, before hosting profligate Middlesbrough.
