Swansea City defender Kyle Bartley played on loan for Leeds United last season.
Bartley has been on the books of Swansea since 2012, but the defender spent the 2013-14 season on loan at Birmingham City and the 2016-17 campaign on loan at Leeds United.
The 26-year-old central defender played well for Leeds last season and was one of the best players in his position in the Championship.
The former England Under-17 international formed a formidable partnership with Pontus Jansson at the back for the West Yorkshire outfit last season.
According to WalesOnline, Leeds were interested in re-signing Bartley on a permanent contract, but the former Arsenal prospect has been handed a new four-year contract by the Swans.
Swansea manager Clement has explained his decision to include Bartley in his plans for the 2017-18 Premier League season and to hand him a new contract.
“I like Kyle, he has good leadership qualities,” Clement told WalesOnline. ”He has come back with confidence after having a really good season on loan at Leeds.
“He brings another dynamic to the central defenders we have here. In many ways he is a typical British defender.
“He is dominant in both penalty areas, he is a strong man. He is English and has good communications with the group. He has character and personality and we are very pleased he has signed a new deal here.”
Bartley would have been a brilliant player for Leeds this season, and one suspects that the Whites will be disappointed that the defender will not be at Elland Road in 2017-18.
