Tottenham Hotspur already have a first-choice goalkeeper in Hugo Lloris, but they may be thinking about plans for the future.
Lloris turns 34 later this year, and he has blown hot and cold in recent years. Paulo Gazzaniga is unlikely to be his long-term successor, so Spurs may have their eyes on some shot-stoppers.
A move this summer seems unlikely, with other priorities elsewhere and major budget issues due to the global pandemic.
However, Calciomercato note that Tottenham are again interested in signing Pau Lopez. The Roma goalkeeper spent the 2016-17 season on loan at Spurs, but failed to make a single appearance.
Lopez went back to Spain and starred with Espanyol. When he produced superb performances for Real Betis, Roma snapped him up, and he has become one of the top goalkeepers in Europe.
The 25-year-old would allegedly cost around €40million (£35million). That would be quite the turnaround from Spurs given how Lopez was a forgotten man at Tottenham around three years ago.

When Lopez left Spurs, he admitted that he actually enjoyed his time at Spurs as it took him out of his comfort zone. He added that Tottenham had ‘incredible players’ – many of whom are still at the club now – and thanked Mauricio Pochettino for his influence.
“You are out of the comfort zone and that makes you evolve on a personal level,” said Lopez to AS in 2017. “You also know a new league and a new way of training. I was in a team with incredible players and a coach (Mauricio Pochettino) who I am very grateful for, for the experience they gave me,” he added.
It’s a very different Tottenham now. Pochettino has moved on, and has been replaced by Jose Mourinho. Whether that appeals to Lopez remains to be seen, but he clearly held the club in high regard after leaving.
