Tottenham Hotspur’s third-choice keeper Pau Lopez has been commenting on his recent performance with the Spanish under-21s.

The talented goalkeeper was quoted by the Spanish FA as having this to say regarding his efforts in the 2-1 win over Italy earlier this week – in which he made a breathtaking save and performed very well:

“I was very happy for these two games, I was not expecting to play them and I’m happy for how they came out, how the team played, we came from a complicated qualifying phase and now we’ve won two games against complicated teams.”

There is no surprise that Lopez did not feel like he would be starting the game.

The talented goalie has not yet featured in a first-team game for Tottenham all season. His appearances have been limited to those with the under-21s as he stands firmly behind experienced duo Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm in the pecking order at White Hart Lane.

Diario as recently reported that Spurs have the option to buy Lopez in the summer for a fee of €7 million (£6 million).

Impressive displays like this will convince the club to bring him on long-term.
