Chelsea are reportedly watching Sampdoria hitman Patrik Schick.
Tottenham’s striking problems have been well-documented for some time now, and Mauricio Pochettino’s men may well be scouring the globe in search of attacking reinforcements.
Harry Kane has been as dependable as ever in front of goal, but summer signing Vincent Janssen has found the net just four times since his big move from AZ Alkmaar – and all of those have been penalties.
If Spurs have ambitions of challenging for the title in the coming years, they will need to find a way to score more goals, whether that’s by hoping Janssen kicks on, or by bringing in another striker in the coming transfer windows.
The latter option is the one that many Tottenham fans will be looking for, and with Daniel Levy unlikely to sanction truly big-money deals, Pochettino and co may again be looking for young, up-and-coming strikers – and Sampdoria’s Patrik Schick fits that bill.
The 21-year-old joined Sampdoria from Sparta Prague in his native Czech Republic last summer, having hit eight goals in 27 games for Bohemians 1905 last season.
Viewed as one for the future, Schick has starred this season with nine goals in 24 appearances for Sampdoria, and his exploits in front of goal appear to have attracted interest.
As noted by Tutto Mercato Web earlier this week, Chelsea are set to scout Schick during Sampdoria’s game with Genoa this weekend, and the attacker has now told Gazzetta Dello Sport (Press Reader) that he would be open to a move to England at some point.

Schick is under the radar right now, and that makes him a more realistic target for Tottenham and Pochettino than the likes of Alexandre Lacazette or Kevin Gameiro, who have both been linked with Spurs in recent weeks.
Quick, strong and good in the air, Schick has been one of the surprise packages of the Serie A season so far, and Tottenham should monitor Schick’s development at Sampdoria whilst also using Janssen’s struggles as something of a lesson.
Janssen had just one year in the top flight of Dutch football, meaning he has endured a huge step up to the Premier League – and Schick would also face a leap, albeit not quite as great should Spurs eye the striker for the summer, meaning a wait-and-see approach may be best for Tottenham.
With Schick open to a move to England, Spurs should be tracking his progress with a view to challenging Chelsea for his signature in the coming transfer windows – as long as he continues to thrive in front of goal in Italy, with the youngster showing no signs of slowing down right now.
