It was a case of third time lucky, as Glasgow Rangers could finally sign Brandon Barker from Manchester City this summer.
As announced on Rangers’ official website earlier this month, Barker has joined the Gers on a free transfer after leaving Premier League giants City.
It is the third successive summer in which the Gers have been interested in the 22-year-old winger, and the Scottish Premiership giants have finally got their man.
Back in June 2018, The Scottish Sun reported of interest in Barker from Rangers manager Steven Gerrard and director of football Mark Allen.
The report also claimed that Allen had wanted the youngster at Ibrox in the summer of 2017 as well.
The 22-year-old has arrived at Rangers with a strong reputation, and Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira’s comments about the youngster made back in January 2015 will excite the Ibrox faithful.

Vieira, who is now the manager of French club Nice, was working at City as their reserve team and Elite Development squad manager, and he spoken highly of Barker.
The Manchester Evening News quoted Vieira as saying about Barker in January 2015: “Brandon is a proper talent. He needs to work hard, he needs to work well but I believe that Brandon has the potential to be a really good player and only he can decide the levels.
“It is up to him how much he wants it because he has got the talent. If he works well and develops himself and is really ambitious, he has fantastic potential to be a Premier League player.”
