Patrick Roberts would be perfect for Leeds United

Manchester City-owned Celtic winger Patrick Roberts would be a good signing for Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

Leeds United have a good squad, and that is reflected in their Championship position at the moment. The Whites are likely to end up in the top six, and maybe they will get promoted to the Premier League via the playoffs.

Irrespective of which division Leeds are in next season, they will need to add to their squad. The Whites have a good bunch of players, but it will not harm them to bring in a few more in the summer transfer window.

One of the players that the West Yorkshire outfit should look to sign is Patrick Roberts, who is currently on loan at Glasgow giants Celtic from Premier League outfit Manchester City. The youngster’s spell at the Bhoys will run out at the end of the season, after which he will go back to City.

Given that Roberts is only 20 years of age and has huge potential, it is unlikely that City manager Pep Guardiola will let him leave on a permanent deal. However, could the former Barcelona boss sanction a loan deal?

Leeds should make a move to sign Roberts on a loan deal, if not for the entire season then at least until January 2018. The 20-year-old has Championship experience with Fulham, and playing for one of the world’s biggest club in Celtic will have only made him a better and more mature player.

The youngster, who has played in the Champions League with Celtic, has scored 11 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys since his loan move to Celtic Park in January 2016. A tricky winger, Roberts is energetic, creative and scores goals.

If Leeds fail to get promoted, then they would be a better team with Roberts in the team next season. If the Whites are in the Premier League in 2017-18, then it would make sense for City to loan out Roberts to Elland Road.

After all, having had a spell at Celtic, it is logical that Roberts features either in the Premier League or for a promotion-chasing in the Championship next season.
