The Scottish champions were beaten 7-0 at the Nou Camp on Tuesday.
Celtic star Patrick Roberts has labelled their loss to Barcelona as embarrassing, speaking to the Daily Mail.
The Hoops travelled to the Nou Camp on Tuesday for the first game of their Champions League group games.
They headed into the fixture full of confidence following the comprehensive win over rivals Rangers in the Old Firm derby at the weekend.
It proved to be a disastrous evening for them though as a Lionel Messi hat-trick, as well as goals from Neymar, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta, saw the La Liga champions to a 7-0 win.
Captain Scott Brown was brutally honest in his assessment of their performance following the game, saying it was unacceptable, and Roberts has echoed that statement.
“Going to the Nou Camp is probably one of the hardest things you will ever have to do as a footballer,” he told the Daily Mail.
“They completely played us off the park. Seven goals, for me personally, is embarrassing. In football, you don’t want to ever get beat. Losing seven goals is always going to hurt, but we will get on with it and go again.”
Group C had always looked to be a difficult one for Brendan Rodgers’ side given it also contains Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach.
This result showed that the gap between Celtic and those top teams may be much greater than had initially been feared.
Indeed, even though only one game has been played, it appears as if it will be a shootout between themselves and the Germans for third place.
That would secure Europa League football for the Hoops, which at this stage in their development under Rodgers may be a level they are more comfortable at.
