Manchester City-owned Girona winger Patrick Roberts has told The Scottish Sun that he does not see Kieran Tierney leaving Celtic anytime soon.

Roberts is good friends with Celtic defender Tierney from his time at the Hoops on loan from Premier League champions City.

The 21-year-old winger was on loan at the Glasgow giants from the Citizens from January 2016 until the end of the last season.

Tierney is one of the best young left-backs in Europe and is a key figure in the current Celtic team.

The 21-year-old Scotland international has been linked with moves away from the Hoops, with The Mirror reporting earlier this month that Premier League duo Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are interested in signing the youngster in the January transfer window.

Roberts – who earns £25,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – does not believe that Tierney will leave Celtic anytime soon.

The winger told The Scottish Sun about Tierney: “Kieran’s a good lad and we’re always texting each other. He’s a player with endless ability.

“It’s no surprise to me to see him being valued at £25million and linked with top clubs in the English Premier League.

“KT’s only 21, but he has already played over 100 games for Celtic, won two Trebles and captained Scotland.

“He loves Celtic and I don’t see him playing for any other club any time soon. He signed a long-term contract there, but you never know what can happen in football.”

Celtic stay

Tierney has come through the ranks at Celtic and is a fan of the Glasgow giants, and it is hard to see the Scotland international leave the Hoops anytime soon.

Celtic also need to keep hold of the youngster, who could develop into one of the best left-backs in the world in the coming years.
