Manchester City-owned winger Patrick Roberts rates his Celtic teammate Kieran Tierney highly, and recently suggested, as quoted by The Scottish Sun, that he is harder to face than Bayern Munich’s David Alaba.

Alaba is one of the best players in the world and is a key player for German and European giants Bayern.

The 25-year-old Austria international is a very versatile footballer who can operate as a central midfielder, central defender, winger and left-back.

Roberts, who joined Celtic on a season-long loan from Premier League club City in the summer of 2017 and earns £1.3 million per year as salary according to Spotrac.com, has spoken highly of his teammate and 20-year-old left-back Tierney.

When asked about his toughest opponent, Roberts said, as quoted by The Scottish Sun: “The game wasn’t the best but he [Alaba] is some left-back.

“I need to mention the left back in our team, Kieran…he can kick me a lot. The toughest game would be against Alaba but the toughest all round would be KT.”

A gem

Roberts’s comments about Tierney show that Celtic have a gem on their hands, and that the Scotland international could develop into one of the best left-backs in the world.

The 20-year-old is, without shadow, one of the best young players on the planet, and working with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers and playing regularly for the first team is only going to develop and progress further.
