Celtic cult loan hero Patrick Roberts has compared what it was like playing for the Hoops to his first impressions on turning out for new loan club Norwich City, as reported in the Eastern Daily Press.

The Manchester City attacker recently signed a new contract at the Etihad Stadium ahead of temporarily switching to Carrow Road, much to the disappointment of some Bhoys faithful.

Roberts had the best spell of his career at Celtic, and there was hope that Neil Lennon may be able to bring the winger back to Glasgow this summer, as reported by the Daily Record.

It wasn’t to be for the Scottish Premiership champions, unfortunately, and rather than returning to Celtic for a shot at a ninth title in a row – and potentially a fourth consecutive domestic treble – the 22-year-old will now be embarking on the mission of helping Norwich impress in their first season back in the Premier League.

“It’s a completely different task but still the same mentality, to keep working hard and do the same things,” Roberts told Eastern Daily Press after contributing to four goals before scoring himself to seal a 5-1 friendly win at Luton Town last week.

“Up there it’s a bit different, obviously there are teams who will sit back and you have more attacking, so you can get frustrated when you can’t score. But here you have to be patient and not rush it, not be naïve or daft, wait for your time on the counter-attacks, carry on playing the way Norwich did all last season, carry that through.”

Roberts could make his Carrow Road debut when the Canaries face Italian side Atalanta in a friendly tonight.
