Patrick Reed has always been one of the biggest draws whenever he tees it up on the DP World Tour, and this week’s Spanish Open is no different.
Reed’s career has never been short on headlines, from his success as a major champion and Ryder Cup hero to various controversies both on and off the course.
Despite his move to LIV Golf limiting his appearances, Reed remains one of America’s top players of the past 20 years and still draws plenty of attention whenever he plays.
This week in Madrid, he’s hoping to add another DP World Tour win to his record. And after his second round at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, the American has put himself in contention going into the weekend.
Patrick Reed delivers strong second round at the Spanish Open
As tends to be the case with Patrick Reed, there were a few twists and turns in an otherwise strong round, but he still managed to finish well under par.
After opening with a 68 on Thursday, he followed it up with a 67 to move to seven-under for the tournament, just one shot back from the leaders.

Reed’s round included an eagle on the par-five fourth and another birdie at six. A bogey on seven briefly set him back, but he immediately recovered with another birdie at eight.
The rest of his round was steady. Reed made nine pars over his last 10 holes and picked up another birdie on the 15th to finish off a solid day’s work.
How many DP World Tour victories does Patrick Reed have?
Reed has always been a supporter of the DP World Tour, and even after joining LIV, he’s continued to back the tour. Out of his 10 professional wins, three have come on the DP or European Tour.

If he doesn’t win in Spain this year, it’ll be nearly six years since his last DP World Tour victory. He’s in contention right now and would likely see anything less than a win as a missed opportunity from this position.
