Patrick Reed has cleared up any uncertainty about his future by announcing on social media that he has left LIV Golf and is aiming for a return to the PGA Tour later this year.
There has been a lot of talk recently around Reed’s future, fueled by some interesting comments he made about where he might be headed next.
The San Antonio native spoke positively about the PGA Tour, and after his win at the Dubai Desert Classic, the 2018 Masters champion revealed that he had not yet signed a contract with LIV Golf for 2026.

Initially, it looked like this might have been a negotiation play. With the season coming up, LIV would have been keen to keep hold of the 35-year-old.
But now the 35-year-old has used social media to make his departure official.
Reed was already scheduled to play on the DP World Tour this week, but now it looks like he is set to spend most of the year there – which is a real boost for the tour.
The immediate issue for LIV is how they fill Reed’s spot on The 4Aces, with little time before the season opener in Riyadh.
In his statement, he also took time to acknowledge his former teammates.
“To Dustin Johnson, The Aces, and LIV Golf, I want to thank you for the memories we shared and created together,” read a part of the message.
Another setback LIV Golf will not find easy to recover from
If Brooks Koepka’s exit was not fatal for LIV, then Reed leaving is not likely to finish them off either.
Even so, there is no way around it – this is a major hit.
LIV’s momentum had already slowed over the past couple of years, and now they have lost two major champions in quick succession.
Reed even picked up a win on the circuit just last season.
It is hard not to see this as another sign that the league has lost much of its influence in talks with the PGA Tour.
Now all eyes will be on Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, both of whom still have a path back to the PGA Tour if they choose to take it.
