According to Eurosport, Leeds United are ready to pay £40m to land Adama Traore from Wolves this summer, and that’s a move that could make Patrick Bamford very happy.
We’ve previously stated that re-uniting Bamford and Traore would be a bit of a masterstroke from the transfer team at Leeds, but what does Bamford think of Traore?
Well, Bamford was full of praise for the Spaniard when the pair played for Middlesbrough together.
What did he say?
Bamford waxed-lyrical about Traore when speaking to the Northern Echo.
“In terms of physical ability and technical talent, I honestly think he’s probably the best player I’ve been in a team with. His pace, his power and his strength are exceptional,” Bamford said.
“But he’s only young and he’s still got a lot to learn. He just needs to work out the other side of the game – not necessarily the defensive side, but he can still switch off when he doesn’t have the ball. The team might have it, but if he’s not in possession, he needs to make sure he’s still completely switched on.
“His talent is incredible though, and he must be so hard to play against. You never know what he’s going to do, if I’m honest. You could be stood free in acres of space, and he takes 25 touches and you don’t get the ball, or he could have about five men around him and beat them all to lay it on a plate.”

Even better now
Bamford thought Traore was exceptional back then, and it’s fair to say that he’s even better now.
Indeed, the Spaniard has improved ten-fold since joining Wolves, and it seems as though he’s picked up those things that Bamford said he still had to learn.
We’re sure that if he played in a Marcelo Bielsa team he would improve even further, and with Eurosport claiming that Leeds are ready to pay £40m for him, we could see Traore turning out at Elland Road in the near future.
