Speaking on the official Leeds United Podcast, Patrick Bamford has shared what Jamaal Lascelles has said to him after the Whites beat Newcastle this week.

Lascelles and Bamford are good friends, having spent time at Nottingham Forest together in their youth, and they had a chat after the game.

Unsurprisingly, Lascelles felt that Newcastle were hard done by, saying that they should have won, and that’s not a point of view that Bamford agreed with.

“I think that ultimately the aim was to win the game, we would have liked to have made it more comfortable, especially in the second half when they had a few chances,” Bamford said about the game.

“I was actually speaking to Jamaal (Lascelles) today, because we were at Forest together as kids, and he felt that they should have won the game, and I said I’m not sure about that, I mean you did have a few chances in the second half, but it was really just a half hour spell where you conjured up a few chances.”

It’s not all that surprising to hear that both Lascelles and Bamford have biased views about how the game went.

To be fair, they both have a point. Leeds dominated the ball mostly, but they only managed two shots on target, both of which went in, while Newcastle did carve out some good opportunities that they really should have scored from.

Unfortunately for Lascelles, Newcastle didn’t get the win, and Bamford has the bragging rights in their friendship, at least until next season.
