Speaking on the Official Leeds United Podcast, Patrick Bamford has shared what Dele Alli was saying to him after Tottenham beat Leeds last week.

Bamford and Alli had a bit of a chat after Spurs’ 3-0 win over the Whites, and one of the subjects they got onto speaking about was this weekend’s FA Cup fixtures, and Alli said that he hopes to get a game against Marine AFC this weekend.

“I don’t know if I’ll play this weekend, but it is a cup that as Jermaine said it’s got a lot of history, I feel like,” Bamford said.

“I was speaking to Dele after the game, after the Spurs game and he was saying hopefully he’ll play this weekend, so they’re playing against Marine FC or something, I don’t know what league they’re in.”

This just goes to show the prestige the FA Cup still has.

Usually a game against non-league opposition that should be something of a foregone conclusion for Spurs would be a chance for a player like Dele Alli to have a rest and put his feet up, but the fact of the matter is he still wants to play.

However, that may be more to do with the fact that Alli has found opportunities hard to come by at Spurs this season, and he wants to make the most of any chance to get on the pitch.

Whether or not Alli plays this weekend remains to be seen. Mourinho is likely to field a rotated team, so there’s every chance the attacking midfielder does get a game, but with rumours of Alli being unhappy at Spurs now coming to the surface, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him.
