Leeds United Patrick Bamford says he is ‘gutted’ to have suffered a knee injury.

Bamford was injured while playing for Leeds’ under-23 team last week.

He was featuring to get some vital game time under his belt after being second choice to Kemar Roofe since his £7 million switch from Middlesbrough.

After scoring in the under-23 match, Bamford limped off before half-time.

The Yorkshire Evening Post report Bamford faces four months out of action.

The former Chelsea striker posted a message to fans on Twitter.

The only positive for Leeds is that Bamford is due to recover in time for the second half of the season and aid their promotion charge.

Leeds have started well, sitting top of the league after six games, with Bamford yet to make an impact.

He will hope to establish himself as a key player upon his return.
