The Leeds United striker hasn’t scored in over a month.
Patrick Bamford has admitted that he should already be in double figures for Leeds United this season.
The Whites hitman picked up a Man-of-the-Match award for his brilliant performance in Tuesday’s 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at Elland Road.
However, Bamford was not on the scoresheet and hasn’t found the net since August, with Leeds having five Championship games since then.
The 25-year-old, a £10 million signing in 2018 [BBC Sport], had a brilliant start to the season, netting four times, but Bamford concedes that he’s well behind his personal target of averaging a goal per game.
He told BBC Radio Leeds: “I’m probably more critical of myself. I have four but I should probably have 10 goals. If I look at one per game, which is the target I set myself. I’ve had the chances. Sometimes the keeper makes a good save, sometimes my finishing is poor looking back at it.”
The good news for Bamford is that the chances are still coming his way.
If the Leeds striker wasn’t finding himself in goalscoring positions that’s a huge worry, but he is. It’s just a case of making them count now.
He might be six goals away from his personal target, but sooner or later he will almost certainly find himself in a purple patch once more.
