A Leeds United win at Brentford this afternoon has kept the Elland Road outfit in the Premier League for another year.

The Whites won 2-1 away to the 10-man Londoners to preserve their top-flight status in a dramatic way.

Jack Harrison scored a 94th-minute winner to give Leeds a massive three points and that, combined with Newcastle United’s victory at Burnley, has kept United up at the expense of the Clarets.

Patrick Bamford was omitted from the squad today due to a positive COVID test.

Here’s how Bamford, a £10 million signing in 2018, reacted to the win on Twitter:

Huge

This is a massive achievement for the Whites.

Bamford has only managed nine Premier League appearances all season and considering he was one of the Premier League’s best goalscorers last term, well he was an enormous miss.

But now Marsch’s side can look ahead to the 2022-23 campaign following what was such a colossal scare this time around.

It’s absolutely vital that Leeds get the recruitment right.

You could argue that in addition to Bamford’s injury woes, horrendous spending by Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta last summer was the primary reason behind their struggle this season.

But Andrea Radrizzani has a chance to rectify that and he absolutely must heavily back Orta and the American coach in the transfer window.

Because if not for Leeds United win at Brentford, they’d be buying players for the Championship, not the Premier League.
